About

Atonement Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Atonement was founded in 1966. Our mission statement is “Blessed to be a blessing: led by faith to share Christ’s love.”.

Worship The Sunday morning service is at 9:00 a.m., celebrating Holy Communion weekly. All baptized Christians who believe that with the bread and wine they receive the body and blood of Christ for the forgivemess of sins are invited to receive communion.

Nursery For your convenience, childcare is available in our Nursery staffed by a certified teacher. Please ask an usher or a greeter for directions to the Nursery.

Handicapped Accessible Our facilities are handicapped accessible. A wheelchair is available in the Narthex. Large print bulletins and hearing assistance devices are available during worship.

Christian Education Children 3 years and older are invited to attend Sunday School following worship service. Classes are held from 10:15 A.M. until 11:15 A.M. during the school year. In the summer, Sunday School is held during the church service.  Children are excused after the children’s sermon to atttend classes.  Adult education classes are held during the school year during the regular Sunday School hour.

Confirmation and First Communion First communion classes are offered to 5th graders. Confirmation classes are offered to 7th and 8th graders.

Baptism If you are interested in baptism for yourself or a child, please contact Pastor Berg at the church office at 217-546-7647.

Prayer Groups Prayer groups include the Women’s Prayer Breakfast group, which meets on Tuesday mornings and the Men’s Prayer Breakfast group, which meets on Wednesday mornings.

Atonement Lutheran Community Outreach  Atonement Lutheran Church encourages members to become involved in Springfield community service programs. Some of the organizations in which our members participate are Grace Lutheran Food Pantry, Contact Ministries, the Mini O”Beirne Crisis Nursery, Girls on the Run, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. We also provide meeting space for community organizations.
